For
the Week of 1/7/02
Theo Fleury - New York
Rangers Theo had a heck of week, worthy of a double major Hoser of the
Week. First he was ejected from the Sharks Rangers game on December 28th with a
kneeing major and a match penalty for intent to injure sharks forward Mark
Smith.
On his way to the dressing room, Fleury ran into Sharks mascot
S.J. Sharkie. Theo's response was to belt the mascot, allegedly breaking one of
the mascot's ribs. The matter was being handled between the Sharks and
Rangers.
Fleury's troubles escalated on January 5th when he walked out
of a game between the Pittsburgh Penguins after receiving his third penalty of
the game. Rangers officials ackowledged that Fleury was dealing with some
personal issues that contributed to his demeanor of late.
Through it
all, the Rangers continue to stand by their man (or man-child).
