for games thru 10/16/22
10/17/2022 - By LGS Staff
The staff writers at LetsGoSharks.com submit their league rankings each week, and we average submissions for each team. Here are the LGS NHL Power Rankings for this week:

Rank Rank Last Week Team Record Last 10 The Skinny
1 6 2-0-0 2-0-0 That Crosby kid sure can play. The agelss Pens still find ways to get it done.
2 4 2-0-0 2-0-0 Two wis over teams they should beat help ring in the new season in Miami.
3 17 3-0-0 3-0-0 Logan Thompson looks like the real deal. If he is, watch out for Vegas!
4 3 2-0-0 2-0-0 The Canes slip a spot purely because other teams had bigger wins. Their triump over San Jose should not have been that close.
5 7 2-0-0 2-0-0 Big wins over the defending champs and rivals Oilers help the Flames move up two spots.
6 5 2-1-0 2-1-0 Nice wins over Tampa and Minnesota tarnished by a loss to Winnipeg.
7 9 2-0-0 2-0-0 Creji returns, They have the band back together.
8 1 1-1-0 1-1-0 Championship hangover or just a late starte. The Avs beat a beatable Blackhawks team, then drop a big test against Darryl Sutter and the Flames.
9 14 2-0-0 2-0-0 This may be the sleeper pick in the West. Two dominating wins over Nashville set the tone early for the Stars.
10 8 2-0-0 2-1-0 Every games is a referrendum on Kyle Dubas. Don't believe me? Try listening to 5 minutes of Leafs coverage. The fans better pace themselves because it's a long season!
11 2 1-2-0 1-2-0 Two losses to power house opponents have the Bolts looking up in the East early.
12 13 1-0-0 1-0-0 Still a mystery team, we'll see what this team is made of in late October when they play 5 games in 8 days.
13 11 2-1-0 2-1-0 Note to Edmonton: The 1st Period counts too. Try to start on time.
14 23 2-0-0 2-0-0 If the Wings have a good october, they start planning a Stanley Cup Parade
15 10 2-2-0 2-2-0 Two cup cake games against San Jose offset by two bad losses.
16 18 1-0-0 1-0-0 Only a loss to the Rangers to show for the week.
17 20 1-1-0 1-1-0 Was it Trotz? Was it the schedule? Islanders fans are going to find out quickly. At least Matt Barzal will be sticking around for a while...
18 15 1-2-0 1-2-0 Only a win over lowly Montreal out of the game for what appears to be an aging also-ran in the East.
19 16 1-2-0 1-2-0 A pair of losses to division foes accented by the fact that one of them was Seattle. We'll see if last season was a fluke.
20 28 2-0-0 2-0-0 It's sad when Gritty is the second most unhinged, disturbing, and entertaining caricature in Philly. Maybe he and Torts should swap places.
21 24 1-1-0 1-1-0 Lots of work left to do in Buffalo, but you can start to see the frame of where they are going. Sabres are no longer an easy 2 points.
22 12 0-2-0 0-2-0 Cap Hell is real. The Wild are in tough with no way to find reinforcements. They better hope Fleury finds his form. Quickly!
23 22 1-1-0 1-1-0 This has all the makings of another tough year in Orange County.
24 19 0-2-0 0-2-0 Not a lot to look forward to in B.C. this season. The loss to Edmonton was not a suprise, but dropping a game to Philly does not set the bar very high.
25 27 1-2-0 1-2-0 The torch has officially been passed to Suzuki and the youngsters. There is lots of pain ahead, but on certain nights you swear the old ghosts are starting to stir again in Montreal.
26 29 1-1-0 1-1-0 This is a second year franchise that has some building to do. They'll surprise some teams here and there, but this isn't a playoff team.
27 25 0-2-0 0-2-0 Slow start once again in Ottawa. Losses to Buffalo and Toronto kickoff another miserable season.
28 21 0-3-0 0-3-0 We didn't pick them to win the Stanley Cup, but the Blue Jackets were blown out in their first three games.
29 31 1-2-0 1-2-0 The Hawks are bad, but not as bad as San Jose. The Bedard Cup entry will be fun to watch this season.
30 26 0-2-0 0-2-0 Like the other bottom end teams on our list, the Devils are losing by wide margins. They are not a good team.
31 30 0-4-0 0-4-0 The Sharks are turning out to be exactly who we thought they'd be. No scoring up front and a backline that may be the worst in the NHL.
32 32 0-2-0 0-2-0 Quite possibly the worst collection of talent to grace the NHL since the early 90's. Have the Coyotes cut too deeply? Will they be able to recover from this in the years ahead?
