Post Game Notes: Flames @
Sharks San Jose 6 - Calgary 3
» Dany Heatley returned from his two-game
suspension. His only presence on the score sheet was his boarding penalty in
the 1st period.
» Logan Couture logged 17+ minutes of ice time
even though it was questionable if he would even play after suffering his lower
body injury last Saturday night. The four days between games allowed the rookie
forward to rest up between games.
» With his assist on Torrey
Mitchell's goal, Joe Thornton now has 689 points which puts him at 54th place
on the NHL's All-Time Points List.
» Marleau joined an
illustrious club on Wednesday night , scoring 350 goals and 400 assists, all
with the same team.
» The 4-goal 1st period tied a season-high
for a period (3rd period 3/15 at Dallas)
» Ten different Sharks
recorded points in the 1st period. 13 San Jose players recorded points on the
night.
» Torrey Mitchell: four goals in his first 51 games. 5
goals in his last 7 games.
» And now the division-fest begins. The Sharks
wrap up the regular season with 8 games against Pacific Division foes. 2 vs LA,
1 vs Dallas, 2 vs Anaheim and three vs Phoenix. 4 games one the road, 4 at
home.
» San Jose owned the faceoff circle again, taking 48 of 76
draws (63%). Joe Pavelski won 18 of 23 faceoffs (78%). Another monster night
for the Big Pavelski.
» In addition to his goal, Andrew Jardins
recorded a hit and a blocked shot in his limited stint on the ice. The rookie
saw the fewest minutes, but made the most of them.
» The one
black spot on the Sharks performance was the penalty kill, which failed to shut
down the Flames. Luckily San Jose played a disciplined game, and limited their
trips to the sin bin. Heatley provided the only Calgary power play with his
boarding penalty.
